Bookmates’ Rock & Read is a family learning program based upon the idea that parents are a child’s best teacher. Participants are encouraged to see the value of reading and literacy in their children’s lives, as well as their own. A hands-on bookmaking session is included.
This will be a fun and creative way to add to your personal family literacy portfolio.
Cost: Training is generously supported by Healthy Child Manitoba. A $10 fee is charged to cover lunch.

Wiggle, Giggle & Munch is a program that offers a time for parents and their 1 – 4 year old children to have fun together with active play and a healthy snack.
You will receive the Wiggle, Giggle & Munch handbook and learn:
- how to lead a Wiggle, Giggle & Munch program
- why it is important for toddlers and preschoolers to be active
- how to encourage parents to play with their toddlers and preschoolers
- creative healthy snack ideas

In this 1 day training, we will address some of the emotional health and well-being challenges when working with the 0-6 age group in a family literacy setting. It is designed for family literacy practitioners, early years staff in childcare centres and schools, and others working to support families with young children in the development of learning skills.
Our annual planning meeting is a full day event to consider our direction for the future. Please join us for planning and lunch.

The Book Bags workshop is $10 for those who live in or serve members of the downtown area. For participants outside the downtown area there will be a fee of $60.
Wiggle, Giggle & Munch facilitator training will be held on Wednesday, February 22. The deadline for registration is February 15.

In this workshop participants will have an opportunity to explore the importance of “managed risk” in children’s play to keep them engaged and learning. Content is geared towards those working with children from birth to 6 years of age.

Communities 4 Families (C4F) invites groups or organizations to apply for grants to support programming for Downtown families with children aged 0-6. These are grants for activities including BOTH parents and their children (aged 0-6), or parenting programs for parents with children ages 0-6. C4F grants support participants who reside within C4F boundaries (see FAQ’s for our map).
Applications can be completed electronically with page 4 faxed (204.487.3630) with signatures, or in hard copy and mailed or faxed.
Note: the deadline for all grant applications is May 25, 2018 (they must be in our office by 5:00 p.m.)
