Bookmates’ Rock & Read is a family learning program based upon the idea that parents are a child’s best teacher. Participants are encouraged to see the value of reading and literacy in their children’s lives, as well as their own. A hands-on bookmaking session is included.
This will be a fun and creative way to add to your personal family literacy portfolio.
Cost: Training is generously supported by Healthy Child Manitoba. A $10 fee is charged to cover lunch.
This is a training workshop for adults only. Unfortunately, childcare is not provided. The deadline for registration is March 19. Priority will be given to those living and working in the downtown.

Our annual free fun day for neighbourhood families is almost here! Head down to Jacob Penner Park, Victor Street at Notre Dame Avenue, on Saturday, August 8th, from 12:30-4:30 pm to celebrate our community and have a great time.
Enjoy live musical performances by local entertainers including Jazz Winnipeg’s Jazz on Wheels and local West End musician Anne-Marie Williot with her folk-bluegrass group Chez Williot, dance to the fun beats of our live DJ, slide down a 20-foot-tall bouncy slide, play games, and make crafts! This year, we are welcoming back the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service who will bring a fire truck to climb into and learn about from 12:30-2pm. Starting at 2 pm there will be the chance to learn how to build a composter to use at home in your garden. This workshop will be led by Christopher Parker of Build Wright Developments. The BBQ will be running during the whole event, giving free hotdogs while supplies last!
