Winnipeg Inner City Missions
The Winnipeg Inner City Missions. (WICM) was formed in 2003 following an organizational merger between Anishinabe Fellowship Centre (AFC) and Flora House (FH). WICM is committed to serving Aboriginal individuals and families in the inner city. WICM’s mandate is to help provide a safe, nurturing and peaceful atmosphere in which people can begin to achieve their potential and find their way to having adequate food, clothing and a safe place to live being listened to and understood, achieving employment developing physical, emotional, spiritual and social well-being.
Three Buildings We have been an integral part of our neighbourhoods for 45 years. At Flora House we serve children and youth aged 6-14 in a variety of organized programs. Registration is necessary. At Anishinabe Fellowship Centre we operate a thrift store and a community drop in. All are welcome no appointment necessary. At Anishinabe Place of Hope we operate a First Steps to Employment project [employment readiness]. Successful candidates reside in one of 19 transitional housing units. The offices and church meeting place are also at APOH.
